School Update and Relief Effort

by Jessica Lykon -

Dear DAS Families,

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones well. Today, our administration team met to thoroughly assess the status of our school and faculty. We are pleased to report that power, air conditioning, and internet services are all up and running at our school, and we are ready to welcome back all students once the district gives the green light to reopen.

In the midst of these events, our ongoing relief effort to support families impacted by Hurricane Helene was interrupted by Hurricane Milton. We are extending this relief initiative to help any of our families now affected by Hurricane Milton as well. If your family has been significantly impacted, or if there is anything related to the storm you'd like us to know, please let us know by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/guxX2ozSUHVyDfBr7.

We will continue to accept donations to aid our students, faculty, and families who have experienced significant damage or displacement due to the storms.

We will keep you updated with any new developments as we receive them. The district has said that they will be putting out a new update today by noon. You can check for updates at www.pcsb.org/weather.

Post Storm School Update

by Jessica Lykon -

Good Morning DAS Families,

We are thinking of you all and hope you are all safe and well in the aftermath of the storm. Like many in the area, our school campus is currently without power, but we’re thankful to report that it looks like there was no damage to our property.

Pinellas County Schools has provided the following update regarding a return to school:

District operations staff have assessed and begun repairs to damages on our school sites. Currently, there are nearly 80 school sites with no power.

At this time, no decision has been made about the date for school reopening as it is dependent upon the stability of the power grid.

We will continue to follow Pinellas County Schools reopening timeline. For their latest updates, you can visit www.pcsb.org/weather

We will keep you informed as any new updates become available.
