Celebrating Student Success at DAS

by Jessica Lykon -

Dear DAS Families,

We are thrilled to share some incredible news about recent achievements from our amazing students!

#1 in the State!

Our FLL Robotics team, Captivating Construction Crew, competed among over 400 teams across Florida and made it to the Top 5 with their impressive project on coral bleaching after several levels of competition. At a competition in Kissimmee, they delivered a 10-minute Shark Tank-style pitch—and were officially named Innovation Project Champions! We are now proud to say they are #1 in the state for Innovation!

Earth Day Statewide Poster Contest Winners

To celebrate Earth Day 2025, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) held a statewide poster contest focused on this year’s theme, “Protect & Preserve Florida’s Living Waters.” We are excited to announce that Cole and Ellie, from Ms. Carr’s 5th grade class, were selected as the elementary-level winners for the entire state of Florida! DEP representatives visited last week to present them with awards and recognize their incredible achievement.

Please join us in congratulating these hardworking and creative students. Their dedication, talent, and teamwork are part of what makes the DAS community so special!

Teacher Appreciation Week is Here!

by Jessica Lykon -

Dear DAS Families,

Next week is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (May 5th–9th), and we’re excited to show our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible teachers and staff who make our school such a special place.

Attached to this email is a letter from our DASVO Teacher Appreciation Committee outlining the fun planned for our staff throughout the week. We hope you’ll join us in encouraging your child to say thank you, write a note, or even draw a picture to brighten their teacher’s day.

Let’s make this a stellar week for our out-of-this-world team!
