Celebrating Student Success at DAS

by Jessica Lykon -

Dear DAS Families,

We are thrilled to share some incredible news about recent achievements from our amazing students!

#1 in the State!

Our FLL Robotics team, Captivating Construction Crew, competed among over 400 teams across Florida and made it to the Top 5 with their impressive project on coral bleaching after several levels of competition. At a competition in Kissimmee, they delivered a 10-minute Shark Tank-style pitch—and were officially named Innovation Project Champions! We are now proud to say they are #1 in the state for Innovation!

Earth Day Statewide Poster Contest Winners

To celebrate Earth Day 2025, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) held a statewide poster contest focused on this year’s theme, “Protect & Preserve Florida’s Living Waters.” We are excited to announce that Cole and Ellie, from Ms. Carr’s 5th grade class, were selected as the elementary-level winners for the entire state of Florida! DEP representatives visited last week to present them with awards and recognize their incredible achievement.
