Dear DAS Families,
I am thrilled to share some exciting news from the recent Florida State FLL Competition! Our students have once again demonstrated their hard work and dedication, and we are proud to announce that we have brought home a STATE trophy! For those that are unfamiliar with FLL, or FIRST LEGO League, it is a robotics program that challenges students to think like scientists and engineers. During each season, teams build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO technology and Python programing to solve a set of missions at the competition. Additionally, they explore a real-world problem and develop a solution. This program not only fosters creativity and critical thinking but also emphasizes teamwork, communication, and perseverance.
Both of our FLL teams performed exceptionally well, showcasing professionalism and a passion for robotics. Team 1 has been officially recognized as the Florida State Finalist Winners for Robot Design, a huge accomplishment! Only one team from the entire state is invited to compete at the world competition in Houston, and our team has been selected as the alternate. Being considered for this opportunity is truly impressive and speaks volumes about the capabilities and spirit of our students.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Bradbury, our FLL team has worked tirelessly throughout the season. They are already back to work preparing for the next season. Additionally, they will continue to engage with our community through various STEM outreach events coming up.
We are incredibly proud of what our teams have accomplished and grateful for the support from our families and the school community.
