Dear DAS Families,

I am thrilled to share some exciting news from this past weekend's Pinellas County Mighty Mu competition. For those unfamiliar, Mighty Mu is a math competition designed for elementary and middle school students, offering divisions in 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. This year, around 440 students from across the county competed, making the event highly competitive.

Our students from Discovery Academy of Science participated for the first time and achieved remarkable success. Their hard work and dedication to excellence were clearly displayed through their impressive results.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • In the 5th grade competition, Han Z. tied for 3rd place with an exceptional score of 110 out of 120, while Jayden P. secured the 9th position.
  • In the 7th grade category, Charlotte C. from 6th grade impressively placed 7th.
  • In the 6th grade competition, Juliana C. earned 5th place, and Sebastian M. finished in 7th place.

These accomplishments are especially commendable considering it was our school’s first time participating in this well-regarded competition. Our students showed a strong understanding of math and good spirit during the event. We are proud of all the participants for their mathematical ability and their dedication to learning. Their positive approach made the event enjoyable for all.

Thank you for your continuous support and encouragement, which plays a vital role in our students' successes. We look forward to celebrating more of these achievements together in the future.
